DURANGO, Colo. – South Dakota Mines Men's Basketball lost their final road game of the season at Fort Lewis on Saturday, 67-87.
In the first half, Fort Lewis outscored South Dakota Mines 42-32.
Gray Thompson scored the first six points for the Rockers until a Fort Lewis 7-0 run. Thompson hit another three-pointer to make the score 9-13. A Skyhawks 10-0 run increased their lead to 23-9 midway through the half.
After a Rockers 6-0 run, the Skyhawks responded and went up by 13 points with 5:49 left. Fort Lewis held a 42-32 lead at halftime after
Jason Lee put in a layup with less than a second left.
South Dakota Mines was outscored 45-35 in the second half to give Fort Lewis an 87-67 win. After a
Darren Wallace three-pointer to make it a seven-point game, the Skyhawks went on a 10-2 run to go up 55-40 with 13:37 left. That lead went up to 21 points at the 9:24 mark. The Skyhawks won 87-67 over the Rockers.
Fred Libby led the Hardrockers with 15 points in 13 minutes.
Luke Baltz recorded 12 points, while Lee picked up 11 points, nine assists and four rebounds. Thompson totaled 11 points and six rebounds.
South Dakota Mines shot 37.1% from the field, 27% from deep and 91.7% from the free throw line. They recorded 27 bench points, 24 points in the paint and 12 second chance points.
The Hardrockers moved to 9-17 overall and 6-12 in the RMAC after the loss.

South Dakota Mines is back home next weekend to face Colorado Mesa on Feb. 26 at 7:30 p.m., followed by Western Colorado on Feb. 28 at 3 p.m. Thursday's game is Hardrocker Mental Wellness Night and Saturday's is Senior Day.
