Kenzie Schroeder and Women's Team Win at Hardrocker Spring Invite

RAPID CITY, S.D. – The South Dakota Mines golf teams hosted their home tournament on Monday and Tuesday, welcoming five men's teams and four women's teams.

South Dakota Mines' women won handily, leading by 11 strokes after round one and expanding that lead significantly, shooting a combined 317, 20 strokes better than round one to finish with a dominant, 34-stroke victory over the next closest team in Chadron State.

Kenzie Schroeder led the way for the women, picking up her first collegiate victory, shooting +9 in round one and +7 in round two for a combined 158.

The victory was narrow for Schroeder, as teammate Kyra Allen was on her heels and swapped the lead at times in the final stretch. However, Allen finished one stroke back with a round two +6 after a +11 round one.

Lora Ortega and Marin Keller also finished in the top eight overall, finishing +25 and +28 with combined scores of 167 and 170, respectively.

Addiley Lloyd came in with a top-20 finish, shooting 177 to tie for 17th.

Taylor Ullen, Portia Lenczowski, and Megan Alexander finished with 183, 185, and 186.

The men also showed significant improvement on day two, finishing in fourth overall but posting a +11 in round two, 29 strokes better than the first round.

Matai Naqica was the lone top-five finisher, grabbing the spot with a +7, 149, while teammate Supawich Boonta finished just one stroke back with a +8, 150.

Alex Makarchuk shot a +3 in round two, finishing at 154 overall and in a tie for 15th.

Everette Carroll finished in a tie for 20th with a +13, 155, while Tyler White scored a two-day 158.

Braydon Jones, Cole Thompson, and Jack Sabetti finished with scores of 163, 164, and 184.
