CHADRON, Neb. – South Dakota Mines Women's Basketball capped off a 2-0 week with a 75-51 win at Chadron State on Saturday.
The Hardrockers had one of their best quarters of the season as they outscored the Eagles 30-15 in the first.
Carolina Ruiz Molina recorded a steal and a three-pointer in the first 35 seconds of the game. Late in the quarter, Molina made it a 12-point game with two straight buckets. A 7-0 run at the end of the quarter made it 30-15.
Chadron State flipped the script and outscored South Dakota Mines 11-10. After the Eagles made it 21-32,
Lauren Herman made a three-pointer to make the score 34-21. The two teams were scoreless from the six minute mark all the way to 1:07 in the quarter. A Chadron State layup at the end of the half made the score 40-26.
In the third quarter, South Dakota Mines outscored Chadron State 18-12. The Eagles made it a 12-point game until the Hardrockers went on a run to extend their lead to 54-34. At the end of the quarter, the Hardrockers led 58-38.
South Dakota Mines won 75-51 after winning the fourth quarter 17-13. The Hardrockers put up six straight points to start the quarter. Herman landed two more three-pointers in the middle of the quarter for the Hardrockers.
Spotted Bear led the team with 18 points on 8-for-15 field goal shooting. She also had four rebounds, three assists, two steals and one block.
Addison Miranda and
Savea Mansfield both recorded 14 points. Molina tallied nine points, seven rebounds, four assists and four steals.
As a team, the Hardrockers shot 47.2% from the field and 37% from three-point range. They collected 29 points off turnovers, 28 points in the paint and 20 bench points.
With the win, the Hardrockers moved to 3-5 overall and 2-0 in the RMAC. It is the first time in program history that South Dakota Mines has started 2-0 in RMAC play.

South Dakota Mines returns home for two RMAC matchups this week. They will face Colorado Christian on Dec. 11 at 5:30 p.m., followed by CSU Pueblo on Dec. 13 at 1 p.m.
