Alamosa, Colo. – The Women's basketball team took on Adams State on Saturday afternoon.
 
The Hardrockers left the weekend with positives as 
Piper Bauer hit three three-pointers to set the new school record in career made three-pointers at 277, breaking the record set by current assistant coach 
Ryan Weiss at 276,
 
That isn't the only positive, however. 
Savea Mansfield also had a big game, but it wasn't enough, as the Hardrockers fell in Alamsoa.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
South Dakota Mines' offense has been humming of late, and the first quarter started no differently against Adams State. The Hardrockers and Grizzlies combined for over 40 points, but the advantage went to the Grizzlies, 21-20.
 
In the second quarter, the two teams continued to battle back and forth, with the offenses slowing down. Adams State took the biggest lead of the game at 5 points, 31-26, with just under five minutes to play. They would continue their momentum, going up 36-26 with 2:06 to play in the half. The Grizzlies would go into the half with a lead of 39-26.
 
Savea Mansfield hit a free three midway through the 3rd to give her 22 points, but SDM still trailed 53-39. At the end of the third, the Hardrockers trailed 62-47.
 
Early in the fourth quarter, 
Reese Terwilliger was backing down in the post and kicked it out to Bauer in between the slot and the corner for a three that was all net, Bauer's 277th and record-breaking three-pointer as she broke the previous record of 276 set by current assistant coach 
Ryan Weiss.
 
Following that, Adams State would get some momentum and close the game with an 88-70 victory.
