ALAMOSA, Colo. – The South Dakota Mines volleyball team opened its road RMAC schedule with a matchup in Alamosa against Adams State.
It was a battle throughout with many swings in momentum, but it looked like the Hardrockers were headed for another sweep, before Adams State pushed the match to five sets, and gave some scares in the fifth set. South Dakota Mines would ultimately prevail, picking up a 3-2 victory and moving to 7-4 overall and 3-0 in the RMAC, while Adams State fell to 2-10 and 0-3 in conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED

Ivy Vindivich. The momentum would continue and the Hardrockers would pick up a 30-28 victory.
South Dakota Mines got out to big leads in the second set at 7-2 and 13-7 after a
Jenna Curtis kill and would keep the pedal to the medal, getting a pair of kills from
Alessandra Meoni to help take a five-point, 21-16 lead. The straight points from Meoni would end the set, 25-20.
The third and fourth sets went the way of Adams State with multiple runs of three-plus points, keyed by Anna Huggins to emerge victorious in sets three and four by scores of 25-17 and 25-19, leading to a decisive fifth set.
Vindivich came up big early in the fifth for the 'Rockers, helping to put them up 3-0 and 5-1 with a trio of kills, but down 12-6 Adams would fight back, scoring seven straight points, going up 15-14 and having match point, however, the Hardrockers would prevail, winning it 19-17 after an ace by Meoni.
