RAPID CITY, S.D. – The Hardrocker men's and women's track and field teams will look to put things together this weekend at the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships Friday through Sunday in Grand Junction, Colo.
Hosted by Colorado Mesa University, the meet begins at 9 a.m. Friday, 10 a.m. Saturday and 10:30 a.m. on Sunday.
The Hardrockers will look to improve on last year's eighth-place finish by the men and 12th-place finish by the women.
The 'Rockers are led by
Jaycie Stubbs, who has won three straight titles in the women's javelin. Stubbs is ranked second in the javelin at
41.64 meters, one meter behind Sophia Preito of Westminster.
Stubbs is also ranked seventh in the shot put at 13.12m and ninth in the discus at 42.67m.
For the Hardrocker men,
Aidan Thompson is ranked third in the decathlon at 6,148 points, while the 4X400 relay team of
Lane Thomas,
Eddie Johnson,
Ethan Pitlick and
Thomas Greisen is ranked third at 3 minutes, 21.62 seconds.
Cole Dobberstein is ranked fifth in the 400-meter hurdles at 54.03 and freshman
Cooper Stevens is ranked fifth in the shot put at 14.90 meters.
Reid Kaiser is ranked in the top eight in two events – seventh in the men's discus at 44.39m and seventh in the hammer at 52.48m. He will also compete in the shot put.
Other Hardrocker men ranked in the top eight include:
Taegen Wells, seventh in the 110-meter hurdles at 15.06 and
Merek Ranstrom, eighth in the 110 hurdles in 15.21 and Thompson, eighth in the discus at 43.70m.
