RESULTS IN RMAC PLAY
The Hardrockers emerged from the opening of RMAC play last weekend with back-to-back results. It is the first time in school history that the program has earned results in two straight conference contests (RMAC and GNAC history).
ONE AWAY
Hayden Jaramillo is one assist shy of sitting solo atop the all-time career leaderboard at South Dakota Mines with 10. Currently, he sits at nine with Andreas Skau. Jaramillo's role has shifted a bit into more of an attacker as he is leading the team in shots and shot-on-goal percentage (min. 4 shots). His average of over one shot on goal per game is in the top 10 in the RMAC.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Daniel Freitas had a phenomenal weekend in goal and it earned him the program's first RMAC Goalkeeper of the Week award and third RMAC Player of the Week award.
He helped pave the way for two results, allowing two goals in the two matches and making 13 saves. He was excellent against Colorado Mesa where he faced 26 shots and 12 on goal, while making several splendid stops on his way to 12 total saves in the game.
GAME WINNER
In the game against Westminster on Friday, the Hardrockers were pushing throughout the second half and it was tense late, but South Dakota Mines took a lead late and held on.
Parker Yocom found
Mateo Clagg who had his shot blocked only to see it redirected to
Ethan French who buried the ball in the net to give South Dakota Mines a one-goal lead with just about 10 minutes remaining.
PROLIFIC PARKER
Parker Yocom also had a great weekend for South Dakota Mines as he scored the tying goal against Westminster on a crossing attempt that got deflected into the net. That wasn't the only play he made however, as he made a great run against Colorado Mesa down into the box and was fouled, earning a penalty which would lead to the game-tying goal from
Hayden Jaramillo.
SCOUTING FORT LEWIS
Fort Lewis is off to a great start this season, as they are undefeated with a 4-0-5 mark thus far.
They drew in their lone RMAC matchup thus far against Colorado Christian in Lakewood.
As a team, Fort Lewis is strong on the offensive side, scoring 16 goals in nine games, averaging 1.778 goals per game, third-best in the RMAC.
They are equally strong on the defensive side, however, as they are allowing just .89 goals per game, second in the RMAC.
The Skyhawks have several dangerous players as Tomas Duenes Gonzalez and Gabriel Legendre are in the top 10 in the RMAC in shots with Duenes Gonzalez leading the conference.
Duenes Gonzalez averages 1.11 shots on goal per game, the sixth-best in the league, while he has also converted three goals on the season.
David Citron is one of the better playmakers in the league as he has five assists, tied for the second-best total in the RMAC.
SCOUTING ADAMS STATE
Despite the lopsided victory in Adams State's favor earlier this season, the Hardrockers have momentum, while Adams State is 2-4-1 and lost the conference opener at home to Colorado Christian.
The Grizzlies are in the top half of the conference offensively, averaging 1.249 goals per game, it is their defense that has struggled as they allow 1.71 goals per game, the third-highest mark in the league.
Avery Richards is their leading threat at least in shots, taking 2.14 per game. He has scored two goals on the season, joining Tim Mietenkorte for the team lead.
Ranulfo Lopez is a threat as well as he has a shot on goal percentage of .800 on the season, having converted one goal and two assists on the year.
LOOKING AHEAD
Following the Colorado road trip, the Hardrockers are back at home the following weekend, taking on MSU Denver and Colorado School of Mines on Thursday, Oct. 17 and Sunday, Oct. 20. Those games are set for a 3:00 and 1:00 kickoff.
