Volleyball Sweeps Black Hills State

SPEARFISH, S.D.. – The South Dakota Mines volleyball team took on its biggest rival on Thursday night as they battled against Black Hills State on Thursday night in Spearfish.
 
It was a quick one for the Hardrockers as they dominated throughout the three sets to pick up a 3-0 sweep.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
Led by Alessandra Meoni and Annelise Larson hitting .452 and .462, the Hardrockers were able to make quick work of the Yellow Jackets, moving to 8-6 on the year while hitting .294, .293 and .295 in the three sets, while having the advantage in kills, aces, assists and digs in the match.
 
The first and third sets were dominated by South Dakota Mines by the score of 25-15, with the second set coming a bit closer but still going the way of the Hardrockers, 25-21.
 
NOTES
Alessandra Meoni led the team with 15 kills with a sterling .452 hitting percentage while adding 11 digs…Jenna Curtis also found double digits with 10 kills…Annelise Larson hit .462 with six kills, while Kiley Metzger hit .625 on five kills, adding 11 digs and 27 assists.
 
UP NEXT
The Hardrockers have a long break as they take on Fort Lewis at home on Oct. 12. That matchup is set for 6:00 p.m.
