RAPID CITY, S.D. – The South Dakota Mines volleyball team took on New Mexico Highlands, looking to improve their RMAC record and standing.
They did that in dominant fashion.
The Hardrockers controlled the match throughout, winning 25-13, 25-12 and 25-13 to move to 7-2 in the RMAC and 12-7 overall.
HOW IT HAPPENED
South Dakota Mines set the tone early with an 8-1 run to start the first sset and never let off the gas, going up 14-3 and 20-9 before winning the set 25-13.
After starting slightly slower in the second set, the Hardrockers score nine straight points to go up 10-3 and doubling Highlands up at 20-10, before taking the set 25-12.
In the third set the two teams started level and New Mexico Highlands even took a brief lead at 10-9 before South Dakota Mines took back over, scoring four straight and then running off six in a row with
Josey Wickersham behind the service line to take a 22-11 lead and go on to take the set 25-13.
NOTES
Annelise Larson was the lone player with double digit kills with 12 on a staggering .750 hitting percentage...
Alessandra Meoni and
Jenna Curtis had nine kills each…
Hannah Benes and
Emma Grimm recorded 17 and 11 digs.
