INCOMING CROP
The Hardrockers have 14 freshmen listed on their roster and several are expected to play big roles in 2023.
CHANGE IN LEADERSHIP
The Hardrockers have undergone some change at the top over the offseason as Ryan Thompson moved on to Utah State Eastern, leading the way for
Bill Schaefer, assistant coach in 2022 to take over the head role on an interim basis. He added Rob Reagan as assistant coach.
CAPTAINS SLEEVE
The Hardrocker captains are
Hayden Jaramillo, who returns as a captain from 2022, and senior
Garrett Cole. Jaramillo has been a fixture in the starting lineup for each of his three years, playing in 40 games and starting in 32. Jaramillo set the school single-season record for assists in 2022 and is two back of the career record. Cole has been a similar fixture since 2020, starting in 36 games and playing in 40.
YOUTH MOVEMENT
In addition to the 14 freshmen, the Hardrockers are rebuilding the program with youth with 22 underclassmen on the roster for 2023.
SCOUTING MSU BILLINGS
MSU Billings has started the season off with 1-goal victories over South Dakota Mines and Carroll College.
Thus far, the scoring has been spread out with Callum Bryan, Kolja Thomas, and Ty Vohland each scoring a goal.
Bryan returns as the leading goal scorer from a season ago, scoring 5 goals. Thomas is also a returner, attempting 13 shots in 2022 and finding the back of the net twice.
In goal, Jeremi Campagnolo returns as a 16-game starter in 2022.
As a team in 2022, the Yellowjackets finished 5-9-3.
SCOUTING TEXAS A&M INTERNATIONAL
To start the 2023 season, the Dustdevils have fallen to a pair of familiar Hardrocker foes, losing to Colorado Mesa and Westminster University, each by one goal.
In 2022, Texas A&M International finished 3-9-6 but brought back their top-three goal scorers from a season ago and 17 players who logged minutes in double-digit games.
LOOKING AHEAD
Following the two home games this week, the Hardrockers hit the road next week for a pair of contests at Lubbock Christian on Thursday, Sept. 14 at 6:30 p.m. followed by a Saturday showdown with Eastern New Mexico on the 16th at 5:00 p.m.
