Chadron, Neb. --- The South Dakota Mines volleyball team played the Eagles of Chadron State in a non-conference match Thursday night in Chadron, Neb.
The Hardrockers fought hard but lost in three sets to the Eagles (25-18; 26-25; 25-16).
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Hardrockers had an early lead against the Eagles, but Chadron State battled back to go ahead of the 'Rockers 9-8 and never looked back, winning the set 25-18.
In the second set, the Hardrockers would grab a 7-3 lead, but the Eagles would claw their way back into the set, tying it at 10. South Dakota Mines would go ahead 15-12 before the Eagles would make a run evening up the score at 16. The Hardrockers held a slight advantage for most of the set until the Eagles evened up the score 24-24. Chadron State would then score the next two points to win the set 26-24.
The third set saw both teams going back and forth until Chadron State took the lead for good 8-7. The Eagles would win the set 25-16 and the match 3-0.

Jenna Curtis would end the match with nine kills…Setting the offense for the Hardrockers was
Kiley Metzger with 26 assists.
The Eagles had two players in double digits for kills in the win…Mayson Fago had 12 kills, while Alexia Hurtado had 11.

The Hardrockers will face off against rival Black Hills State Friday night in Chadron, Neb. in a non-conference match-up. First serve will be at 6:00 PM.
