RAPID CITY, S.D. --- The South Dakota Mines soccer team played at home on Sunday, taking on Texas A&M International in a game that was highly competitive throughout.
In the first half, Texas A&M International had the advantage, both in possession and in shot, outshooting the Hardrockers 10-3, however, it only resulted in a goal in the 25th minute by Jordan Mase, assisted by Lassana Diatike. Another opportunity in the half would go for naught as the Dustdevils missed a penalty.
In the second half, the Hardrockers came out more aggressive and were rewarded with an early goal.
Will Mauritsen was found on a cross in the box by a teammate, delivered to his left leg for a tap-in goal, tying it up at 1. The remainder of the second half was a battle, with each team possessing the ball and having opportunities, but it wasn't until the 88th minute when a ball bounced around the box and found Jordan Mase for his second goal of the game off a Yahir Gallardo assist, and Texas A&M International secured the 2-1 victory.
