Hardrocker Volleyball Announces 2023 Schedule

RAPID CITY, S.D. --- On Friday afternoon, head coach Lauren Torvi Prochazka finalized the 2023 South Dakota Mines volleyball schedule.  
 
The Hardrocker volleyball team heads into the season with some turnover as seven seniors graduated and moved on from the program in 2022. Several new faces will also be joining the program as 10 new additions are joining the team with eight being freshmen and two being transfers.

With the opponents in the Chadron State tournament still to be announced, the schedule shapes up to be difficult and includes four teams who ended the 2022 season in the American Volleyball Coaches Association Top-25 along with five teams who qualified for the 2022 NCAA Volleyball Championship.
 
South Dakota Mines begins the season with a tournament at Chadron State on Sept. 1 and 2 with opponents still to be determined. The next weekend, the Hardrockers make the short trip to Spearfish to play in a tournament, hosted by Black Hills State. Over the two days, the 'Rockers face off with UMary, Texas A&M – Kingsville, Northern State, and MSU Billings. Conference play opens up with a trip to UCCS and Regis on Sept. 14 and 15. The King Center awaits the home opening weekend on Sept. 22 and 23 as Adams State and the Thunderwolves from CSU Pueblo are on the docket. The month concludes with a trip to Chadron where non-conference matchups against Chadron State and Black Hills State are scheduled for the 28th and 29th.
 
South Dakota Mines then heads back home for a mid-week matchup with Western Colorado on Oct. 3 before facing off with Fort Lewis in Durango on Oct. 7. On Oct. 13 & 14, the Hardrockers face off with two tough opponents as Colorado Mines and MSU Denver visit Rapid City. Another mid-week matchup follows as the team makes the short trip up north to face off with Black Hills State in Spearfish on Oct. 17. On the 21st, New Mexico Highlands is the opponent in Las Vegas, New Mexico. The volleyball team then has their longest homestand of the campaign ending the month of October and beginning the month of November with non-conference matchups against UCCS and Fort Lewis on Oct. 26 & Oct. 28.
 
To open the month of November, the Hardrockers host Colorado Christian and Chadron State on the 3rd and 4th for the final home weekend, before heading on the road to take on Westminster and Colorado Mesa on Nov. 10 & Nov. 11.
