RAPID CITY, S.D. – The South Dakota Mines football team was coming off a big victory at Black Hills State last weekend and took on the #15 Western Colorado Mountaineers Saturday at O'Harra Stadium but the game did not go as planned as Western Colorado took an early lead and held onto a big lead throughout the game.
How It Happened – On the third play of the game, Drew Nash took a long run to the house, giving the Mountaineers a 7-0 lead. Western would score two more times, first on a pick-six, then on a 13-play, 99-yard drive.
Jayden Johannsen and the Hardrockers also scored on a 9-play, 75-yard drive, but the positives were few and far between in tis one, as Western Colorado would keep on the gas.
They took a 37-7 lead into half and would go up 43-7, before South Dakota Mines would add a 19-yard connection from Johannsen to
Henry Dryden and another to Galbreath.
In the end, Western Colorado heads home with a 43-20 win.
The Mountaineers move to 6-0 and 4-0 in the RMAC while the Hardrockers move to 3-3 and 2-2.

Up Next – The Hardrockers head to Golden, Colorado for a matchup with the second-ranked Orediggers of Colorado School of Mines next Saturday.
