RAPID CITY, S.D. --- The South Dakota Mines soccer team had its home opener on Sunday night against Eastern New Mexico.
The first half went smoothly for the Hardrockers after finding their footing after around 15-minutes. The Hardrockers were able to control the possession for pretty much the remainder of the half, eventually finding the back of the net on a goal from
Brady Cork, assisted by
Hayden Jaramillo.
In the second half of the match, it was a different story, as Eastern New Mexico struck early, tying the match a 1-1 in the 50th minute and adding two more in the 60th and 68th minutes.
Notes – Daniel Freitas continues to impress as a true freshman goalkeeper for the Hardrockers as he recorded seven saves…Four different players recorded a shot on goal…
Garrett Cole led the team with three shots…
Garrett Cole received a red card in the 78th minute.
The loss drops the Hardrockers record to 1-3-1. They will be in action again on Wednesday against MSU Billings.
