Hardrocker Women's Basketball Defeated in Road Matchup

GOLDEN, Colo. --- South Dakota Mines women's basketball was on the road Friday night against the #12 ranked Orediggers from Colorado School of Mines. The Orediggers were able to take an early lead and hold it throughout, defeating the Hardrockers 70-52.
 
How it Happened – The Hardrockers got off to a slow start in the first quarter getting outscored 23-7.
 
In the second quarter, the Rockers still had trouble getting the ball in the hoop, but the defense stepped up and only allowed 11 points in the quarter. The Rockers trailed 34-14 heading into half-time.
 
The Hardrocker offense caught fire in the third quarter scoring 20 points. But the Orediggers matched the Rockers basket for basket scoring 21 points to lead by 21 points 55-34.
 
Halfway through the fourth quarter, the Rockers had scored nine points, but the Orediggers still led by 20, 63-43. The Hardrockers would outscore the Orediggers 18-15, but it wasn't enough as the Hardrockers would fall to #12 Colorado School of Mines 70-52

Notes – Piper Bauer scored 13 points to lead the Hardrockers…Madelyn Heiser scored seven points, adding five assists and three steals...Naomi Hidalgo and Syndee Durtsche each had six rebounds.
 
Up Next - The Hardrockers will take the court again tomorrow against MSU Denver. Tip-off will be 4:00 PM in Denver, Colo.
