RAPID CITY, S.D. --- The South Dakota Mines volleyball team dropped a match at home on senior night when they fell to UCCS, 3-1.
How It Happened – In the first set, the Hardrockers started slow with UCCS getting out to an 8-3 lead. The Hardrockers would bounce back briefly but fell 25-19.
The second set was even for a while, however, UCCS would score six straight point to take control and end the set on a 5-0 run, winning it 25-17.
The Hardrockers showed improvements in the third set, going up 13-7 after consecutive
Lily Bartling kills. That lead would only expand with
Paisley Gibson giving the Hardrockers an 18-10 lead and
Dejah Behrend pushing it to 19-11. The match would be pushed to a fourth set with the Hardrockers taking set 3, 25-18.
In the fourth, UCCS would take control, going up 14-7, before eventually winning 25-15.
Notes – Koethe led in kills and blocks with 9 and 3…
Kiley Metzger recorded 27 assists…
Anna Thomas and
Hannah Benes were in double figures with 23 and 13 digs.
Up Next – The Hardrockers close out the regular season at Chadron State and Colorado School of Mines next weekend, searching for an RMAC playoff spot.
