RAPID CITY, S.D. --- In a game that was delayed to later in the day because of travel issues for Westminster College, the Hardrockers bounced back from last night's loss to top the Griffins, 74-71, in RMAC play on Saturday night at Goodell Gymnasium.
The 'Rockers jumped out to an early edge in the first quarter, leading, 20-15, after the first. In the second quarter of play, the Hardrockers led as much as 13 towards the end of the half. When the buzzer sounded, the 'Rockers went into the half up, 41-30. In the first half, Makenna Bodette scored 12 points and Ryan Weiss added 11.
The Griffins came out firing in the third quarter, outscoring the Hardrockers, 23-17, to close the gap in the score. The 'Rockers held a 58-53 lead going into the final quarter. The Griffins were able to overcome their deficit and jumped ahead of the Hardrockers, but a late bucket Bodette propelled the 'Rockers to a 74-71 victory.
Bodette led the 'Rockers with 24 points and seven rebounds. Weiss added 15 points, while Madelyn Heiser chipped in with 13. Hunter Krebs led the way for the Griffins with 24 points.
The win gives the 'Rockers a 8-7 record and 8-6 in RMAC play. Westminster drops to 7-3 overall and in the RMAC.
