RAPID CITY, S.D. --- The South Dakota Mines men's basketball team defeated the Colorado State University Pueblo Thunderwolves, 80-74, Tuesday night at Goodell Gymnasium.
Both teams went back and forth with 18 lead changes in the first half. Both the 'Rockers and the T-Wolves had scoring runs of six points with the T-Wolves leading as much as five at one point. The Hardrockers went into the locker room down one 35-34.
The game stayed close and it was all tied up at 46-46 five minutes into the second half. The 'Rockers took the lead, 58-57, and led as much as seven points with 2:30 left in the game. The 'Rockers went on a 9-0 run with clutch free throws down the stretch to seal the game.
Three Hardrockers finished the game with double digit scoring.
Alejandro Rama led the way with 21 points, shooting 8-15 from the floor.
Brevin Walter turned in a solid performance with 17 points and
Brannagh Walsh added 11. The Rockers shot 50 percent (11-22) from three-point land and 49.2 percent (29-59) from the floor.
The win keeps the Hardrockers undefeated at home (4-0) and lifts their record to 7-5 overall and 7-5 in the RMAC. Their next opponent will be Colorado Mesa University on Friday night in Goodell Gymnasium. Tip off is scheduled for 7:30 pm.
