GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. --- The South Dakota Mines soccer team battled against the #12 nationally ranked Mavericks of Colorado Mesa on Friday afternoon, but was not able to get their offense going, falling 3-0.
In the first half, the Hardrockers were not able to get much going, meanwhile, the Mavericks were putting on a ton of pressure in the first 25 minutes, but goalkeeper
Tyler Ring made a pair of phenomenal saves, in addition to recording 6 saves in the first half to help keep the Hardrockers in the game.
Early in the second half, the Hardrockers would hurt themselves, recording an own goal in the 51
st minute to increase the Maverick lead to 2-0. Defensively the Hardrockers would do a much better job in the second half, not relying on Ring to stop everything, allowing just 6 shots and two on goal compared to 17 (8) in the first half, however, two of them would find the back of the net to give Colorado Mesa a 4-0 lead.
The Hardrockers are now 1-12-1 on the year and 0-7 in RMAC competition.
