RAPID CITY, S.D. ---The South Dakota Mines women's basketball team got their first win at home Thursday with a 65-59 victory over the Chadron State College Eagles. The win moves the Rockers to 4-6 overall and 4-5 in the RMAC. The Eagles drop to 0-6 overall and in the RMAC.
The Rockers started the game slow, trailing most of the first half. The Hardrockers finally caught the Eagles with three minutes to go in the half and never looked back. Chadron State led after the first quarter 13-9, but the Rockers scored 24 points in the second quarter to take a 33-25 lead.
South Dakota Mines kept up the hot shooting in the third quarter, scoring 18 points to lead 51-39. The Eagles tried to make a come back in the fourth quarter getting as close as four points, but the 'Rockers pulled away late in the game for the win.
Ryan Weiss lead all scorers with 21 points on the night. Weiss was 4-10 from behind the three point line and also had 6 rebounds. Francesca Facchini and Madelyn Heiser each finished the game with 8 points. The Eagles were led by Hazel Fui and Bailey Brooks with 15 points each.
