On senior night, the South Dakota Mines women's basketball squad defeated the Yellow Jackets from Black Hills State, 66-50, on Saturday night in Goodell Gymnasium. At the beginning of the game, the Hardrockers honored their two seniors Michaela Shaklee and Francesca Facchini.
The Rockers jumped out to an early 7-0 lead in the first quarter and never looked back. They got the lead up to 10 points and finished the quarter up, 20-14. In the second quarter, the Yellow Jackets pulled to within six points, but Shaklee was firing on all cylinders from behind the three-point line. Shaklee finished the first half with 20 points to give the Hardrockers a 38-26 halftime lead.
In the third quarter the Hardrockers increased their lead to 13 to finished the quarter up 51-38. In the fourth period, the Rockers put the game away with a15 point scoring effort in the fourth to win the game 66-50.
Shaklee led all scores with 22 points going 5-8 behind the arc. Ryan Weiss added 19, while Anna Combalia pitch in with 15.
BHSU was led by Racquel Wientjes with 22 points.
