RAPID CITY, S.D. --- The South Dakota Mines women's basketball team dropped a tough one against Colorado School of Mines Saturday afternoon with the Orediggers winning, 66-52. The loss puts the Hardrockers with a 3-6 overall record with a 3-5 record in the RMAC. The Orediggers move to 6-2 and 5-2 in the RMAC.
The Orediggers had a balanced attack on the offense, leading all but 18 seconds of the game. The 'Diggers held a 17-14 first quarter lead and went into half with a 33-22 advantage. The 'Rockers came out firing in the third quarter outscoring the Orediggers 20-11 to pull within two points, but Colorado School of Mines was too tough under the basket and pulled away with a 66-52 RMAC win.
Junior
Ryan Weiss paced the Rockers with 17 points. Weiss was 5-9 behind the arc in the game and led the team with 6 rebounds. Sophomore
Bailey Johnson chipped in 14 points for the Hardrockers.
The Orediggers were led by Courtney Stanton and Denali Pinto with 12 points each. Megan Van de Graaf had 11 to help the Diggers to the win.
The Hardrockers will take the court next week with home games on Thursday and Saturday. On Thursday the Rockers will face off against Chadron State College at 5:30 pm at the King Center. Then on Saturday the Rockers will host Black Hills State University at 5:30 pm.
