Regis Tops South Dakota Mines Men In RMAC Matchup

DENVER, Colo. --- The South Dakota Mines men's basketball team fell to the Regis University Rangers, 90-52, Saturday afternoon during a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference matchup in Denver, Colorado.

The Rangers could do no wrong to start as it was their season opener. Regis came out hot, as the team went on a 9-0 run to start the game, the Hardrockers never led in the matchup. The home team lead at the half, 54-28, and then outscored the 'Rockers, 39-24, over the final 20 minutes.

South Dakota Mines made good on 19-50 attempts in the game to shoot 42 percent, including 2-11 from three point range and was just 2-4 at the free throw line. They had most of their success inside, netting 30 points in the paint.

Regis hit 36-71 buckets to shoot 51 percent in the game, including 12-32 from three-point range and added 6-10 at the foul line. The Rangers obtained 42 points under the basket.

The Hardrockers were led by Kolten Mortensen with 12 points, six rebounds and one steal. Brevin Walter added 10 markers and two rebounds, Josiah Garnier tacked on nine points and Kolton Frugoli dished in seven.
