ALAMOSA, Colo. --- The South Dakota Mines men's basketball team picked up its first win of the season Saturday evening, defeating the Adams State Grizzlies, 75-69, during a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference matchup in Alamosa, Colorado.
It was a great battle for the Hardrockers, as the game saw seven lead changes. After the first half, South Dakota Mines held a four-point advantage, 36-32, and then outscored the home team, 39-37, over the final 20 minutes.
The 'Rockers finished the game shooting 46.2 percent making good on 24-52 attempts, including a 7-21 performance from three-point range and converted 20-28 from the foul line. They hauled in 42 rebounds, tallied 15 assists, four steals and three blocks.
ASU shot 38.6 percent from the field making good on 22-57 attempts, including 12-33 from behind the arch and added 13.22 on free throws. They notched 23 rebounds, seven assists, eight steals and five blocks.
Individually for the 'Rockers
Brevin Walter paced his team with 18 points, five rebounds and one assist.
Kolten Mortensen tacked on 15 points, nine rebounds and two assists.
Wilfred Dickson contributed with 10 points, while
Brannagh Walsh and Alejandra Rama each cashed in for nine points.
For ASU, Malik Moore led the way with 15 points, Trace Dimeff added 12 points and Destan Williams contributed with 10 markers.
