'Rocker Thinclads Competing At SDSU Indoor Classic

RAPID CITY, S.D. --- The South Dakota School of Mines men's and women's indoor track and field teams head off to Brookings, South Dakota, this weekend for the second time this season. The Hardrockers will compete in the South Dakota State Indoor Classic Friday and Saturday.

The 'Rockers haven't been back to Brookings since the season opener in November. The event will take place on the campus of SDSU. Last weekend the team traveled out to Mankato, Minnesota where the men's team finished 12th with 14 points, while the women finished ninth with 15 points.

Hardrockers to keep an eye on
-Erica Keeble continues to fly higher and higher in the pole vault. Keeble set a new school record last weekend with a height of 3.95m and is second in the RMAC rankings.
- Jonathon Murray in the 200 dash, clocked his best time of the year with a 22.48 last weekend in Mankato. He is currently ranked ninth in this event. Jonathon Murray is also ranked 3rd in the 400m with a time of 48.71, he set this time back in November. Andrew Ferris sits in 8th for the 800m, Ferris posted a time of 1:54.39 in mid-January.
- Casey Skillingstad moved up the pole vault ranking after last weekend when he scored a height of 4.43 meters --- this height puts him in 11th place in the RMAC.
-The 4x400 team moved up to fourth after posting their fastest time of the year in Mankato last weekend. The group recorded a time of 3:20.52. The DMR team continues to sit in sixth in the rankings after they ran their fastest time of 10:13.33 two weeks ago.
- Westley Siebdrath rounds out the Top 3 for the Weight Throw with a distance of 16.14, a distance he earned in mid-January.
- Cody Allen is currently ranked fourth in the standings for the shot put with a distance of 16 meters from early December.
-Erica Westerman in the 800 run, who is currently ranked 19 in the conference with a time of 2:21.65. Also in the 800m, Kayla Gagen has moved her way up to the 21st spot after she ran a 2:22.40 last weekend in Mankato.
-Adeline Straatmeyer ran her fastest time of the year in the 3,000 run last weekend, recording a time of 10:23.26 and improving on her own SD Mines record. She is currently ranked 19th in the conference.
- The 4x400 relay team continues to sit in 10th after posting a time of 4:17.82 in late January. The DMR team remains in fifth with a time of 12:34.67 --- a time that they set in January.
- Kevin Ptak and Korder Cropsey also moved up in the rankings for the 200 after last weekend. Ptak recorded a time of 22.68 which puts him in 18th while Cropsey finished with a time of 22.69 which puts him in 19th.
