RAPID CITY, S.D. --- In a game of runs and the lead that exchanged hands 20 times, Fort Lewis College was able to string together some clutch shots down the stretch and held off the South Dakota School of Mines men's basketball team to earn a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference win, 77-73, Friday night at the King Center in Rapid City, South Dakota.
The Hardrockers jumped out to a 10-0 lead to open the game, but the Skyhawks came surging back midway thru the first half and overtook the home squad, 14-12, at the 13:04 mark. It went back and forth to halftime and at the buzzer the score was knotted at 34 points apiece.

It was a great back-and-forth battle in the second half and at the 3:45 mark, the Hardrockers held a 65-64 advantage. The Skyhawks hit back-to-back three-pointers and pulled ahead by five, 70-65, with just under two minutes remaining in the game.

Fort Lewis was able to keep the Hardrockers at bay to the final horn, thanks to some clutch free throws.

SD Mines hit 27-64 and shot 42.2 percent from the field, including 10-26 from three-point range and was 9-22 from the foul line. SD Mines hauled in 34 rebounds, recorded 15 assists and six steals.

The Skyhawks 50 percent in the game, making good on 25-50 attempts, including 10-24 from downtown, and a 17-22 effort on free throws. They notched 38 rebounds, had six assists, one steal and four blocked shots.

Individually for the 'Rockers, Logan Elers led the way with 20 points, six rebounds, and an assist. Mitchell Sueker tacked on 12 markers, three rebounds and a steal, while Jack Fiddler contributed with 10 points and Wilfred Dickson added nine.
