The South Dakota School of Mines volleyball team fell to the Colorado Mesa Mavericks Saturday afternoon in RMAC play.
The Hardrockers dropped the match 1-3 with scores of 18-25, 18-25, 25-22, and 16-25.
Even though the 'Rockers had two sets where they hit nearly .400 as a team, they were unable to contain the dynamic Maverick attack.
The Mavericks posted 63 kills on 147 attempts while hitting .306 as a team. They were led offensively by the trio of Kassie Gilfert, Camille Smith and Katie Scherr who tallied 19, 13 and 10 kills.
The Hardrockers collected 48 kills on 134 attempts while hitting .214 across the four sets. Outside hitter
Dana Thomson led all players in the match with 21 kills while also contributing 6 block assists.
Jacey Koethe and
Hannah Stevenson also chipped in 5 and 4 block assists.
Anna Thomas tallied a match high 16 digs.
The Hardrockers will return to action next weekend as they take on Adams State and Fort Lewis in Rapid City.
