FLC Pulls Off Comeback Over Rockers, 3-2

The South Dakota School of Mines volleyball team dropped a match Friday night against Fort Lewis in RMAC play.

 

The 'Rockers fell to Fort Lewis 3-2, 23-25, 25-15, 25-17, 27-29, 9-15.

 

The Hardrockers outmatched the Skyhawks in every single statistical category other than blocks, where they Skyhawks outnumbered the 'Rockers 9 to 6. The Hardrocker offense posted 77 kills to Fort Lewis's 55 and hit .222. Sophomore outside hitter Dana Thomson had yet another stand out night after posting a double-double. Thomson posted a career high in both kills and digs with 35 kills and 19 digs. Freshman libero Anna Thomas also topped her career high that she set last weekend as she tallied a total of 44 digs in the match. Setter Kassie Luce also posted a double double with 31 assists and 10 digs.

Her 35 kills also set a new RMAC record for kills in a five set match. Thomas's 44 digs also ranked third all-time in the RMAC for a five-set match.

 

The Skyhawks tallied 55 kills while hitting .206 in the match. Middle blocker Bailey Longacre led the Skyhawks with 17 kills on 35 attempts while hitting .457. Outside hitter Ohiyah Shirley also chipped in 14 kills.

 

The Hardrockers will return to action tomorrow night at 6pm vs Adams State in the King Center.
