Dixie State won for the fifth time in its last six outings as the Trailblazers posted a 1-0 result over South Dakota Mines Friday night on the pitch at Trailblazer Stadium.
The Trailblazers (6-4-1/5-2-0 RMAC) tallied the lone goal of the match with 4:08 to play in the opening half when
Matt Lockwood played a ball back into the Hardrocker box to Dresdan Quackenbush, who tucked home his first goal of the year from 8-yards out.Â
Dixie State's defense would make that lead stand as the unit limited SDM (2-7-1/1-5-1 RMAC) to just four second half shots. However two of those chances were on target, including a
George Martinez header with 38 seconds to play in regulation time, but senior netminder
Zach Nielson was up to the challenge and deflected the chance away.
The Hardrockers wound up with a corner kick off the Nielson save that set up another Martinez header, but his attempt sailed wide and Dixie State ran the clock out from there to secure the three points.
