Hardrockers Looking For Big Things At Dave Little Invite

Rapid City, S.D. --- The South Dakota School of Mines men's and women's indoor track and field teams are set to hit the road this weekend taking the Hardrockers to Spearfish, South Dakota for the third time this season for the Dave Little Invitational hosted by Black Hills State. The meet starts Friday evening and will continue all day Saturday.

Hardrockers to watch
  • Jonathon Murray ranks third in the RMAC for the 400-meter dash with a time of 48.71 - a time that he set at the SDSU Holiday invite in November. Murray was also the man to beat in this event last weekend at the Chadron Invite as he took the top spot with a time of 50.07.
  • Erica Keeble remains in the top spot of the conference for the women's pole vault with a height of 3.75 meters, a mark she set at the 2018 Yellow Jacket Holiday Classic in December. She is also the only Hardrocker that has a provisional qualification for the NCAA Division II Indoor Championships.
  • In the 3,000 Ryan Moen sits in 9th in the league with a time of 8:33.78, a time that he also set last weekend in Chadron that was also a new SD Mines school record.
  • Andrew Ferris rounds out the RMAC's Top 5 in the 800. Ferris set his fastest time of 1:54.39 last weekend at the Chadron Meet.
  • The Hardrocker 4x400 relay team made up of Korder Cropsey, Kevin Ptak, Andrew Ferris and Jonathon Murray set their best time of the season last weekend, running 3:20.99, this was enough to give them the 3rd spot last weekend, and puts them in 6th in the conference rankings.
  • Cody Allen sits in 3rd in the rankings for the Shot Put, Allen threw a distance of 16.00m in December at the Yellow Jacket Holiday Classic. In the Weight Throw, Westley Siebdrath rounds out the top three with a distance of 16.14m which he set last weekend in Chadron.
  • Katherine Mathieu is ranked 24th in the women's 400 in the RMAC with a time of 1:03.29, she set this time last weekend in Chadron. Mathieu is followed by teammate Kayla Gagen, who sits in 25th with a time of 1:03.34, Gagen also set her time last weekend.
  • Erica Westerman ranks 20th in the RMACfor the 800 with a time of 2:23.70, Westerman hit this mark at the Chadron Meet last weekend.
  • Adeline Straatmeyer in ranked 20th in the mile, with a time of 5:17.72, she also sits in 17th in the 3,000 with a time of 10:41.29.
  • Jeremy Gonzales and Korder Cropsey in the men's are tied for 17th in the rankings with a time of 7.16 seconds. Both men set this mark at the 2018 Yellow Jacket Holiday Classic back in December.
