Hardrockers' Suits and Sneakers Game To Raise Cancer Awareness Set For Saturday

RAPID CITY, S.D. --- Members of the South Dakota School of Mines men's basketball team coaching staff will be participating in Coaches vs. Cancer Suits and Sneakers night during the Hardrockers Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference game against New Mexico Highlands University Saturday at the King Center in Rapid City, S.D.

Coaches vs. Cancer Suits and Sneakers Week is a nationwide event when basketball coaches across the country unite for a common cause – saving lives from cancer. Coaches and their staff are encouraged to wear sneakers with their game attire while coaching games to: raise awareness about the fight against cancer; share the importance of nutrition and physical activity in reducing one's risk of the disease; and promote the American Cancer Society as a place for people facing cancer to turn for free information, help and support 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

"I am proud supporter of this event," said Hardrocker men's basketball head coach Eric Glenn. "Anytime myself, the coaching staff, or the team, can raise awareness for the fight against cancer --- we are happy to do it."

During the dates of January 21-27, hundreds of local and national basketball game broadcasts will help focus on the American Cancer Society's lifesaving mission and messages about how everyone can fight back against cancer. Non-televised games allow everyone in attendance to get in on the fight with public announcements within the arena. It's as simple as lacing up your sneakers.

Saturday's game is set to tip off at 5:30 p.m. (MST) and the broadcast will be streamed live on Facebook, at www.gorockers.com as well as the RMAC Network on Stretch Internet at: https://portal.stretchinternet.com/sdsmt/ .
