RAPID CITY, S.D. --- The South Dakota School of Mines men's basketball team bounced back from a loss Friday night to earn a hard-fought victory over the Colorado Christian Cougars, 73-60, Saturday night during a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference bout at the King Center in Rapid City, South Dakota.
The 'Rockers started strong and got in front of the visitors, 34-26, after the first 20 minutes and kept the intensity up in teh second half, staved off several CCU charges and held on for the win, outscoring the Cougars, 39-34, over the final 20 minutes.
The 'Rockers closed out the game making good on 27-50 attempts and shot 54 percent from the field. They were 5-11 from three-point range and were 14-23 from the free throw line. SD Mines brought down 40 rebounds, tallied 12 assists, five steals and four blocks.
Colorado Christian converted 22-60 attempts to shoo 36.7 percent in the game. They hit 11-27 from the three-point line and were 5-10 on free throws. The Cougars wrangled up 31 rebounds, notched nine assists, six steals and two blocks.
Allec Williams paced SD Mines with 24 points, 11 rebounds, two assists, two steals and one block.
Logan Elers tacked on 17 points and six rebounds, and
Damani Hayes cashed in for 16 points, nine rebounds and two steals.
