GOLDEN, Colo. --- The South Dakota School of Mines men's basketball team put forth a hard-fought effort Friday night against the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference's top team -- the Colorado School of Mines -- in Golden, Colorado, but couldn't match the Orediggers' high-powered offense as CSM defeated SD Mines ,93-71, and moved to 10-0 in league play.
The Hardrockers went shot-for-shot with Colorado School of Mines in the early goings, but the home team went off, shooting 50 percent from the field in the first half and 67.8 percent in the second half. The Orediggers finished shooting 58.6 percent from the field making good on 34-58 attempts, including 10-18 from the three-point line.
Colorado School of Mines started to pull away from the Hardrockers at the end of the first half, ending the period up by seven points, 42-35. The Orediggers did not let up in the second half, outscoring the visitors, 51-36.
The 'Rockers closed out the game converting 24-54 attempts to shoot 44.4 percent from the field. The hit 8-20 from behind the arch, converted 15-19 on free throws, grabbed 19 rebounds, 14 assists, five steals and two blocks.
The Hardrockers were paced by
Allec Williams who cashed in for 18 points (four of five from three-point range), four assists and one steal.
Damani Hayes contributed with 12 points, six rebounds and two assists.
Logan Elers tacked on 10 points, six rebounds, two blocks and one assist. Mitch Sueker added nine points and
Troy Brady cashed in for seven markers.
