RAPID CITY, S.D. --- The South Dakota School of Mines men's basketball team couldn't keep pace with an uptempo Regis University team Friday night during Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference matchup at the King Center in Rapid City, South Dakota. The Rangers defeated the Hardrockers, 79-66.
The Rangers hit some key shots in the first half, overwhelming the Hardrockers and jumped out to a 41-27 advantage. SD Mines did outscore the visitors, 39-38, over the final 20 minutes, but couldn't recover from the first-half deficit.
The 'Rockers shot 39-7 percent hitting 25-63 attempts, including 6-22 from the three-point line and converted 10-14 on free throws. SD Mines collected 35 rebounds, notched 11 assists, four steals and three blocks.
Regis converted 28-62 to shoot 45.2 percent from the field, including 9-29 from the three-point line and hit 14-19 on free throws. They came down with 40 rebounds, 14 assists, eight steals and two blocks.
The Hardrockers were led by
Mitchell Sueker who cashed in for 19 points and seven rebounds, while
Allec Williams posted 18 points, five rebounds, five assists and one steal, and
Damani Hayes contributed with 10 points, eight rebounds, two assists and one steal.
