Hardrockers Taking Trip To Billings For Weekend Tournament

Rapid City, S.D.--- The South Dakota School of Mines men's soccer team will be on the road this weekend for the second straight week traveling to Billings, Montana, for a tournament hosted by Rocky Mountain College.

The Hardrockers are slated to take on the University of Providence (0-2), formerly Great Falls University on Friday in a 3 p.m. match and then will face the College of Idaho (0-1)  on Sunday in an 11 a.m. matchup.

The Hardrockers played their second game of the season last Sunday against their out of conference rivals, the University of Mary, in Bismarck, North Dakota.

After the win against Morningside College to open the season, 4-1,  the Hardrockers were ready to travel to North Dakota, and had hopes of grasping their second win of the season. The Hardrockers started the game against Mary very well and looked to be the dominate team, having three good chances to score in the first 15 minutes.

But alas, Sunday would not be their day as they suffered from two red cards in the first half, and were forced to play down two men for nearly 60 minutes.

Within that time they were unable to keep Mary off the board and ended up losing the game 2-0. They left North Dakota after being handed their first loss of the season, but are eager to hit the field this weekend in Billings and get back on track.
