GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.. --- The South Dakota School of Mines men's soccer team had to shake off a sluggish start the the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference matchup against CSU-Pueblo Sunday afternoon in Grand Junction, Colorado.
But the Hardrockers couldn't pull off a late rally as the Thunderwolves held on for a 2-1 win. CSUP led after the first half of play, 1-0, and tacked on a second score earlier in the second period.Â
The Hardrockers finaly got things clicking midway through the half and struck gold in the 74th minute when
Justin Barkow found the back of the net for his second goal of the season.Â
But the visitors simply ran out of time before mounting another successful push.Â
The Hardrockers finishded with eight total shots, four on goal, while the home team notched 14 shots, eight on goal.Â
Barkow paced the 'Rockers with two shots, while
Sterling McKenzie,
Bradley Day and
Cameron Thompson were all credited with one SOG.Â
Senior Kyel Daledovich recorded all 90 minutes as goalkeeper and suffered the loss facing 14 shots, giving up two goals but did come up with six saves.Â
