RAPID CITY, S.D. --- It didn't take the South Dakota School of Mines men's soccer team long to take control of its game Friday night during a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference matchup at Sioux Park Stadium in Rapid City, South Dakota.
Just one minute and 47 seconds into the game, junior forward
Justin Barkow found the back of the net off an assist from senior goalkeeper
Kyle Daledovich. It was Barkow's third goal of the season and 17
th in his career at SD Mines – the programs all-time leader.
Barkow wasn't done there, in the 14
th minute; he advanced a ball to sophomore
Garrett Bonzell, who earned a goal for his first of the season.
The Hardrockers added a third goal in the second period when freshman
George Martinez connected on a ball for a solid score at the 58:10 mark.
SD Mines finished the game with 13 shots, 10 were on goal while the Cougars closed out the game with seven shots, five were on goal.
Daledovich earned the win for the Rockers, facing seven shots and coming up with four saves.
Barkow paced the 'Rockers with four shots, three on goal; senior Ian Debois recorded three shots, one on goal; Martinez had two shots, both on goal; and Bonzell finished with one shot (on goal).
The Hardrockers improved to 2-6-1 on the season and 1-3-1 in the RMAC while Colorado Christian falls to 0-7 on the season and 0-5 on in the conference.
