Rapid City, S.D. --- The South Dakota School of Mines men's soccer team will travel to Colorado this weekend to play two Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference games.
The first will take place Friday in a 3 p.m. matchup against the Adams State Grizzlies(0-5-1) in Alamosa, Colorado.
Adams State has only earned one point from their last six games, and are currently 10
th in the RMAC standings.
The last time out, after a tie against CSU-Pueblo on Friday left the Grizzlies optimistic coming into Sunday's game, but they were shutout by Fort Lewis Sunday, 4-0.
On Sunday the team will travel to Pueblo, Colorado to face CSU-Pueblo (3-2-1) in a12 p.m. (MST) outing. The Thunderwolves have earned points in three of their last five games and are sitting in seventh place in the RMAC standings.
The Hardrockers are looking to get back on track this weekend after dropping two RMAC bouts last week to Colorado Mines and Regis University.
The injury-plagued team is excited to get some guys back into the rotation – which has proven to be key to the 'Rockers. One such athlete is junior
Justin Barkow, who holds the team record for points in a season, will return this weekend after battling an ankle injury sustained two weeks ago in Billings, Montana.
Another hopeful return is
Logan Juergens who is coming off a knee injury last Friday against Colorado Mines. The young center mid has been a key piece for the Hardrockers and the formation they run. He has stepped up this year as a starter.
Last Friday against Colorado School of Mines, the team had its best performance of the year, but were unable to capitalize on the chances that they were given. The Orediggers took their chances and beat the Hardrockers, 3-0, in a hard-fought battle.
On Sunday the team traveled down to Denver, Colorado, to face a tough Regis opponent. Coming off of a solid performance against Colorado Mines, the Hardrockers were looking to get their first RMAC win of the season. But Sunday would not be the day as they fell to Regis, 4-0.
