RAPID CITY, S.D. – The South Dakota School of Mines track and field teams competed in an aggressive meet at the University of Northern Colorado's Tom Benich Invitational this past weekend in Greeley, Colorado.
With many of the team members gone for the Easter holiday, a few of the Hardrockers were able to place high in the events and represented SD Mines very well.
In fourth place for men's shot put was
Cody Allen, who set a personal record at 50 feet-9.25 inches.
Ryley Sutton placed fourth in the women's 3,000 steeplechase with a time of 12 minutes 41.45 seconds.
Kayla Gagen also placed fourth in the javelin throw with a mark of 110-9.
Though the competition was ambitious, there were still many who set personal bests from the Hardrocker men and women.
Freshman
Jeremy Gonzales set two personal records, the first being in the 100-m with a time of 11.07 and the second in the 200-m with a time of 22.58.
Distance runner
Jacob Huber finished the men's 5k with a new best of 16:13.09. Runners
Joel Haas and
Ben Colvin were not far behind setting their own records at 16:32.09 and 16:36.98.
In the men's 800-m was
Andrew Ferris with his best time of 1:54.88.
Gagen set her own PR in the 800-m with a time of 2:30.04.
Beating her old record with a time of 19:35.42 was Kari Radke who participated in the women's 5k.
Tana Dahlberg also set her new best in the women's high jump with a mark of 4-10.25.
Next up, the Hardrockers will travel to Boulder, Colorado, this weekend for the Colorado Invitational at the University of Colorado of Friday and Saturday.
