FORT COLLINS, Colo. --- Hardrocker Track and Field teams are back home with impressive scores after their meet this past weekend.

After getting a late start due to the snow on Friday, both teams still came ready to compete.

Steven Johnson, Assistant Track and Field Coach, tells, "With the snow we got out of Rapid City later than planned so we missed several events on the first day, but day two went much better. We knew we had to take advantage of the great weather down there and we did a great job competing."

The SD Mines men's team finished third with a total team score of 61.

For the 100-meters race all three of our men who participated in the event placed in the Top 10. Junior
Kevin Thompson finished sixth with a time of 11.06, freshman
Jeremy Gonzales placed seventh with a time of 11.13 and
Korder Cropsey, sophomore, placed 10th with a time of 11.26.

In the Top 10 for the men's 200-meters race we have
Korder Cropsey, once again, who tied for seventh with a time of 22.39 and sophomore
Kevin Ptak, who finished 10th with a time of 22.66.

In the men's 400-meters race junior
Jonathon Murray and sophomore
Kevin Ptak placed fourth and fifth respectively with times of 50.11 and 50.32.

Sophomore
Andrew Ferris finished the men's 1500 run with a time of 4:00.96 which put him at the No. 8 spot and moved him up to seventh place on the Hardrockers All-Time list.

Murray,
Jeremy Gonzales,
Kevin Thompson and Cropsey all raced together in the men's 4x100 relay and placed second with a time of 43.23.

In the men's 4x400 relay, Murray,
Jordan Mason,
Sean Earley, and Ptak finished second with a time of 3:19.44.

Sophomore
Wyatt Kainz finished third in the men's high jump with a mark of 6-feet-4-inches, finishing third and nearly equaling his personal-best record. Junior
Carter Kasuske tied for sixth with a mark of 6 -0.

Freshman
Doug Scott finished eighth in pole vault with a mark of 14-5.25. Junior
Casey Skillingstad finished ninth with also a mark of 14-5.25 while freshman
Jared Wilson finished 10th with 13-11.25.

In the men's long jump sophomore
Darren Nissen finished seventh with 20-10.5 while
Wyatt Kainz finished ninth with 19-11.

Cody Allen finished second in men's shot put with a mark of 50-8 while freshmen
Warren Minerich and
Dakin Nolan finished seventh and eighth with 37-8.75 and 36-3.5.

In the men's discus
Cody Allen placed in the top ten with 136-9.

The women's team placed fourth overall with a team score of 54. The Top 10 for each event that the women participated in are as follows:

Sophomore Alexia Hodsgon finished second in the 100-meters race with a time of 13.06.

Freshman Erica Keeble finished seventh in the 200-meters race with a time of 26.35 while Alexia Hodsgon finished eighth with a time of 26.76.

Sophomore Kaelyn Kaul placed fifth with a time of 1:06.52 and junior Karissa Kjenstad finished sixth with 1:09.49, both during the women's 400 dash.

Junior Adeline Straatmeyer, Kayla Gagen and senior Ryley Sutton all placed in the 800 run in third, fourth and fifth with times of 2:33.18, 2:35.55 and 2:37.20 respectfully.

Senior Kari Radke placed ninth in the women's 3,000-meters with a time of 11:48.50 and Libby Friesen, also a senior, placed 10th with a time of 11:59.85.

In the women's 100 hurdles, freshmen Tana Dahlberg and Faith Chambers placed eighth and ninth with times of 18.17 and 19.63.

Keeble placed second in the women's pole vault with a mark of 11-7.75, which is also the new SD Mines outdoor school record. Senior Rachel Hermanson finished third with a mark of 8-8.25.

Tana Dahlberg finished eighth in women's discus with a mark of 118-10.

Hardrocker track and field head coach Jerald Schafer and Coach Johnson were pleased with the outcomes for both teams.
Â
"We saw a number of athletes at or near where they left off during the indoor season," Johnson added.
Â
Both coaches are excited for the season after this weekend and hope that the students will bring the same energy for the rest of their meets.
