BROOKINGS, S.D. --- The South Dakota School of Mines indoor track and field teams put up some solid marks this past weekend during the South Dakota State Indoor Classic Friday and Saturday in Brookings, S.D.
The Hardrocker thinclads earned two new school records, improved on one provisional qualification, had 19 personal-best records (PRs) and posted six SD Mines All-Time Top 10 performances.
SD Mines freshman Andy Ferris earned a new school record during the men's 800-meter run. Ferris clocked a time of 1:55.13 and broke the old record of 1:57.60 held by Shane Hague from 2007.
The Hardrocker men's distance medley relay team also set a new school record. The team of
Chase Wood,
Kevin Ptak,
Ben Colvin and Jake Huber posted a time of 10:28.15 to set the new school mark. This time betters the time of 10:40.29 set a year ago by Wood,
Korder Cropsey, Ptak and Huber.

Jack Batho, IV also improved on his NCAA Div. II provisional mark in the men's shot put. The junior took 10
th place on Saturday after a toss of 16.17 meters. Batho is currently third in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference with this past weekend's performance for the shot put and also has a provisional qualifying mark in the men's weight throw and is ranked second in the RMAC (18.76).
Next up, SD Mines will be at the Black Hills State Stinger Open Saturday at the Young Center in Spearfish, S.D.
