RAPID CITY, S.D. --- The South Dakota School of Mines women's volleyball team played host to the Western State Colorado Lady Mountaineers Saturday afternoon during an Rocky Mountain Athletic conference match at the King Center in Rapid City.
The Lady Hardrockers started out a bit sluggish, but came back strong through the middle part of the match. The Mountaineers took advantage of SD Mines' slow start and stole the match, 3-1. Western State defeated the Hardrockers, 25-15, 17-25, 25-23, 25-20.
The Hardrockers closed out the competition with 43 kills on 186 attacks for a .102 hitting percentage, collected 40 assists, had three service aces, came up with 107 digs and finished with eight total blocks.
Western State had 46 kills on 188 attacks for a .106 hitting percentage to go along with seven aces, 107 digs and seven total blocks.
Individually for the 'Rockers, freshman
Dana Thomson paced her team with 15 kills on 54 attacks while senior
Anna Breidt and junior
Hannah Stevenson contributed with 10 kills each. Freshman setter
Shyann Bastian collected 38 of the team's 40 assists and tacked on 11 digs. Sophomore
Tana Dahlberg led SD Mines with a season high 43 digs.
