RAPID CITY, S.D. --- The South Dakota School of Mines women's volleyball team put up a good fight against the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference's fifth ranked MSU Denver Saturday afternoon, but the Roadrunners were able to hold off the intense play of the Hardrockers to win the match, 3-0, at the King Center in Rapid City, S.D.
The Roadrunners defeated the Hardrockers, 25-11, 25-23, 25-19. Once the bout got going, the Hardrockers picked up steam and nearly came away with a Game 2 victory and applied pressure in the third set as well. But the Roadrunners were able to slip away down the stretch to secure the RMAC win.
SD Mines finished the match with 27 kills on 149 attacks to go along with 27 assists, 82 digs and nine total blocks. MSU Denver closed out the day with 42 kills on 147 attack, 40 assists, 90 digs and six total blocks.
The Hardrockers were paced by freshman
Dana Thomson with eight kills on 49 attacks and came up with six digs. Sophomore
Rayleigh Peterson added six kills and senior
Anna Breidt tacked on four. Junior
Allie Boggs and freshman
Shyann Bastian both tallied 10 assists on the day and sophomore
Tana Dahlberg led the 'Rockers with 33 digs. Breidt also had five assisted blocks while Peterson, and Boggs both recorded four.
