GOLDEN, Colo. -- The South Dakota School of Mines men's soccer team was overwhelmed Thursday when the Hardrockers challenged the No. 5 nationally ranked Colorado School of Mines during a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference matchup in Golden, Colorado.
The Orediggers proved why they are one of the best in the NCAA, defeating SD Mines, 5-1. Colorado School of Mines jumped out to a 3-0 advantage in the first half and then added two more in the second.Â
The 'Rockers tried to keep pace, scoring their only goal duirng the 62nd minute when the RMAC's Academic Player of the Year
Justin Barkow found the back of the net unassisted from 18 yards out.Â
The Orediggers finished the game with 22 total shots, 13 on goal while the Hardrockers notched six shots, one on goal. Barkow took three shots in the game,
David Grifo was credited with two and
Nicholas House tacked on one.Â
Kyle Daledovich suffered the loss for SD Mines, playing all 90 minutes in goal. He faced 13 shots and came away with eigth saves.Â
