COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. --- The South Dakota School of Mines men's soccer team closed out the 2018 season on the road challenging the University of Colorado Colorado Springs during an Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference matchup in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
It was a tightly contested matchup, but the Mountain Lions were able to do just enough to get an edge over the surging Hardrockers as the home team won the bout, 1-0. UCCS's Igor O'Rear found the back of the net in the 71
st minute off an assist from Alex VonHolle.
It was a fairly even battle with the Hardrockers recording nine total shots while UCCS was credited with 13. SD Mines tallied three shots on goal to four for the Mountain Lions.
Owen Winger paced the 'Rockers with two shots on goal while
Cameron Thompson had one shot on goal.
Justin Barkow,
Sterling McKenzie and
Ian DeBoise also took shots during the game.
Kyle Daledovich suffered the loss for the "Rockers but did come up with three saves facing four shots on goal.
