RAPID CITY, S.D. --- It was quite the night for South Dakota School of Mines men's soccer goalkeeper
Kyle Daledovich.
First and foremost it was Senior Night for the Hardrockers as they played host to Fort Lewis College during a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference game in a first-ever game at Dakota Fields Friday night in Rapid City, South Dakota.
The SD Mines men's soccer program honored Daledovich along with his six other senior teammates before the game:
Ian DeBois,
Adrian Lager,
Jack Seifert,
Noah McKenzie,
Cameron Thompson and
David Grifo.
The Loman, Missouri, native also had a season high 12 saves in the game and despite the 2-1 loss, that still wasn't the highlight for the Mechanical Engineering major.
What stood out for Daledovich, as well as the entire Hardrocker program was the goal he scored early in the second half of play that put the cherry on top of the cake.
Daledovich punted a ball from the box on his side of the field. The ball sailed into the Skyhawks' territory and dropping in front of the Fort Lewis goalkeeper and then bounced over his head and in for SD Mines only goal of the game. It was the first ever goal by a goal keeper in Hardrocker men's soccer history.
Fort Lewis scored two goals in the first half of play and then had to fend off a recharged Hardrocker squad. SD Mines had a couple opportunities to knot the game, but the visitors' defense proved to be too much.
The 'Rockers finished the game with five total shots, three on goal, while the Skyhawks posted 19 shots, 14 on goal.
Senior
Ian DeBois led the 'Rockers with two shots on goal. Junior
Justin Barkow also recorded a shot in the game.
