RAPID CITY, S.D. --- The South Dakota School of Mines put up a good fight against the No. 23 ranked Colorado School of Mines Saturday afternoon during a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference matchup at the King Center in Rapid City, S.D., but the Orediggers were too much to handle defeating the Hardrockers 3-0.
Colorado Mines defeated SD Mines, 25-22, 25-13, 25-18. The Hardrockers closed out the match with 23 kills, a hitting percentage of .069, three aces, 23 assists, 53 digs and nine total blocks. The Orediggers finished with 40 kills had a .235 hitting percentage, notched 37 assists, tallied six service aces, had 67 digs and seven total blocks on the night.
Individually for the 'Rockers, sophomore
Caryn Hazard paced her squad with nine kills and had a .050 hitting percentage and junior
Anna Breidt tallied five kills with a .333 hitting percentage. Freshman
Emma Eckel was responsible for 23 of the team's 25 assists.
The loss drops SD Mines to 1-14 on the season and 0-6 in the RMAC. Next up the Hardrockers have a three-match stretch this weekend taking on Johnson and Wales and Regis University of Friday followed by a match in Nebraska on Saturday against Chadron State.
