LAKEWOOD, Colo. --- The South Dakota School of Mines men's soccer team got back to its winning ways Sunday afternoon, defeating the Colorado Christian University Cougars, 2-0, during a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference matchup in Lakewood, Colo.
SD Mines broke a 0-0 stalemate late in the second period when junior
Noah McKenzie took a cross from the opposite side of the box from sophomore
Justin Barkow to score his second goal of the season during the 85
th minute of play, for the 1-0 advantage.
Three minutes later, senior
Charles Kieffer notched his third goal of the season and sealed the Cougars fate when a shot was redirected from a corner kick and scored off an assist from McKenzie in the 88
th minute, for the 2-0 score and eventual result.
SD Mines had a very aggressive game plan Sunday and the stats showed it. The Hardrockers finished with a season high 19 shots, eight on goal, while CCU had just seven shots in the game, two were on goal.

Sterling McKenzie and junior David Griffo both had three shots, one on goal.

Kyle Daledovich played all 90 minutes in the net and came up with two saves to earn the win.
The win improves SD Mines to 3-2-2 on the season and 2-2 in RMAC play. The Hardrockers continue play on the road this weekend heading to Salt Lake City, Utah, Friday to face Westminster College and then will face Colorado Mesa on Sunday in Grand Junction, Colo.
