SALT LAKE CITY, Utah --- The South Dakota School of Mines men's soccer team was on the wrong end of a second-half scoring surge Friday afternoon in Salt Lake City, Utah, as the Westminster College Griffins surprised the Hardrockers with a 3-1 decision during a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference matchup.
After a deadlocked first half of play, the home team showed a more aggressive style of play pressing the ball and keeping the action on SD Mines' side of the pitch. The strategy paid off with goals coming during the 62

th minute.
The Hardrockers were able to regroup and got in the scoring column at the 87:10 mark when
Charles Kieffer took a cross from sophomore
Justin Barkow for an impressive goal. Unfortunately, there wasn't enough time to mount a comeback as the 'Rockers dropped the decision and fall to 3-3-2 on the season and 2-3 in conference action.
Westminster finished the game with 23 total shots, 12 were on goal while the Hardrockers had 11 shots, five on goal.
Barkow led the SD Mines attack targeting the goal three times in his five shots, while Kieffer finished with two shots in the game while senior

Brett Bender, junior Ian Debois and junior David Griffo all had one shot during the competition.

Kyle Daledovich played all 90 minutes in the goal where he faced 23 shots and came up with nine saves.
The Hardrockers are back in action Sunday for a 12 p.m. bout against Colorado Mesa in Grand Junction, Colo.
